Each day on the trail I tell myself that tomorrow will be easier. Each day seems to bring me closer to questioning the logic of this statement!

Last night I was lucky enough to be able to hike to Noelle. It’s nice to mix up the hiking with being able to spend time with Noelle at the end of the day.

This morning a hiker knocked on Cupcakes door at 6:30AM asking if Noelle could give him a ride to town. The Dixie fire has continued to expand and it was closing down the section of the trail that he planned to hike on. I left that discussion to Noelle and hit the trail. I soon passed more and more hikers that were all heading for Noelle’s location to try and hitch away from the trail.

Nice huh?

I shot Noelle a Garmin message and told her that throngs of hikers were headed her way. At some point during my early morning hike I realized that I had dropped my hat. I immediately dropped by pack on the side of the trail and hiked back to locate my hat.

Reunited!

It’s only a hat, but it’s my ONLY hat. I’ve been looking for a suitable replacement when we’ve been in town, but I’m not seeing what I want just yet. I’ll keep looking!

The day passed rather uneventfully. I’m trying to find the right pace for walking meditation, but I’m not finding it yet. I’m still 95% in the zone of walking/cursing.

I arrived at camp early enough to wash my shirt and socks in the spring before I made dinner. Dinner tonight was mac/cheese and bacon. Delicious!

I’d be interested to know how many she took to town, and whether any of them kicked in any gas money.

I believe Noelle took one hiker to town (section) and he donated $40!
