Here!

I punched into Yosemite today. It’s a little crazy. Yesterday, there’s really no one that I’m bumping into on the trail. Today I’d guess that I ran across twenty or twenty five day hikers. There was a big concentration of lakes and water, so pretty much around every corner lurked a day or weekend hiker.

One of the challenges of so many day hikers are so many opportunities to be discovered when I’m using the toilet. You know, when it’s “poo time”. I wish I could train my bowels to just “release” instantly when I say the magic word. It would make my poo time a little less stressful!

A PCT sign!

I was chatting with a hiker today who has been here for about a week. He was scheduled to camp with his buddy, but his friend cancelled on him at the last moment. He came, along with his horse, and camped anyway. He was a little bummed that his fishing rod fell of his horse yesterday and he hadn’t been able to locate it again. He did say that he’d had fish for the last six days in a row, so he wasn’t that upset to miss another fish dinner.

1000 Miles!

It was fun to run across a 1000 miles marker in the trail. I’m not seeing any PCT hikers, the bubble seems to be long gone, but it’s a nice moment none the less. I remember my first 1000 miles….or not…

Don’t mind if I do!

It’s kind of nice to have soft cushy paths. No, it’s not kind of nice, its’ really nice. After the rock hike yesterday, I appreciate this portion of the trail today. My feet say “thank you!”

One of my earphones died today. I’m tempted to use my knife and Leuko tape for a little bit of surgery, but I want to make sure that I hang onto my one functioning earphone. I use them every day, so half is better than none.

I’m sporting new blisters today. No amount of tape and love seem to be working to diminish these two suckers. Hopefully they’ll go away soon.

Tomorrow I have a triple hill climb. My legs would prefer a beer and and a day off.
